M: Peregrine Falcon & Blue Jay by Renz Waller- Framed Original Oil Painting dated 1973 - Frame Size: 26 1/2" x 32 1/2" Image Size: 21 1/2" x 27 1/4". German falconer and artist RENZ WALLER (1895-1979) This nice painting by Waller will remind us that we have seen it before somewhere as it is taken from a photograph in Birds of Prey of the World (1964) by John N. Hamlet and Mary Louise Grossman on page 113. In it the jay was obviously just captured by this Rock Peregrine.
Hal certainly had a personal relationship with Renz Waller and wrote many Germans on a regular basis. It is not known if this painting was made specifically for Hal but it most likely came directly to Webster from Waller. Waller is also known as the first falconer to breed peregrine falcons in captivity.
Renz Waller was quite famous for a painting he made for Hitler's Hermann Goering of his gyrfalcon. The painting entitled "Polar Falcon" can be seen via an internet search where it is listed for sale and listed between $25,000 - $35,000.
So, this painting is of historical importance as well as being a very nice painting of a peregrine falcon.
The price listed is for framed artwork in the shipping crate.
